SayNow, New Media, and the Difference in Generations
Today I discovered the new little marketing phenom, SayNow. I won't go into the details of what the company does because you're smart enough to figure it out on your own.
As records sales continue to plummet, it is imperative that the musicians find other ways to make money and embrace technology all the more. I believe SayNow is the next big thing for the music industry. Soon after MySpace Music launched, every band had a page on the site. Now, bands have a MySpace page, a Facebook page, a blog, a main site, a Flickr stream and the list goes on…
What is interesting to me is how older artists try to adapt with the times, only to leave the tech-savvy just shaking their heads in disbelief. I'll give you an example.

Coulier has absolutely no idea what he's doing. Could he sound any more awkward?!?!
Soulja Boy gets it. He always has. That's the way he got started. YouTube and MySpace rocketed him into stardom. The musicians, bands, business people, students, politicians, parents, and CEOs that understand and embrace technology will always have a leg up on their competition.

the battle for relevance continues….

2. Have you seen Flight of the Conchords? You have GOT to see it. It’s SOOOO funny!!!
I haven’t seen FotC, but I’ve had several people tell me it’s a riot. It definitely has (or had) a cult following. It’s off the air, right?
I’m not sure, exactly. It’s a show on HBO, so I never would have seen it without DVD anyway. I feel like they’ve finished one season and are in season two, though…or maybe they’ve just finished season two?
Also, I just bought the new Andrew Bird EP…have you listened to it? It’s fantastic–the opening song (it’s name has something to do with trees) is…classic AB with an updated beat? I don’t know…there’s just something perfect about it…
When did it release? I absolutely have to see him live…

This is a little too gimmicky to me. I may be wrong because i often am, but i think SayNow is for those people that can feel like they know someone by listening to a recording of them on the internet that might be somewhat personalized.
But, the more important issue is that i think you should write more. I’m tired of coming here and seeing the same post for days at a time. Remember that time you told me to just write? I’m giving you the same speech. You have interesting things to say and i want to read them.
I’m not sure when the EP came out…? I think recently? He’s phenomenal live. I was hoping he’d come to ACL Festival, but nope…unless they’re still booking…
